Implementation of Operational Exigency Charge (OEC)

With the dynamic security and operational situation in the Red Sea, PIL will be implementing an Operational Exigency Charge (OEC) for all cargo arriving at, departing from and transiting the affected ports within the Red Sea region1 with effect from loading date at port of origin, 5 January 2024.

Please see the table below for the OEC charges (amounts in USD)2 applicable to all laden containers, arriving at, departing from and transiting the affected Red Sea ports, and will remain until further notice.

This surcharge is to be collected together with Ocean Freight (OFT) unless otherwise stipulated on your shipping instruction.

1The geographical scope of Red Sea ports affected by this surcharge is as follows:

• Djibouti
• Egypt
• Jordan
• Saudi Arabia (West Coast)
• Somalia
• Sudan
• Yemen

2Application of OEC charge will be in compliance with regulatory approval and notice periods, after which the surcharge will apply.
